Windsor Championship Show 2013 Critique

Veteran Dog or Bitch (2) 1.

Owen & Brodie’s Ch.Wolfcastle Wood Melick.  Masculine dog. Good depth of body and well sprung ribs. Correct length and fallaway.  Adequate bend of stifle, tight feet. Small ears.  Correct length of coat.

Puppy Dog (6) 3.

  1. Cartmell’s Cusidh Drawing down The Moon. Plenty of substance and crisp dark coat.  Dark eye.  Good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. Correct forechest.  Excellent spring of rib.  Tight feet.  Would like a little more length of body. Moved well.
  2. Owen & Brodie’s  Luckhurst Nebo to Wolfcastle.  Finer built than the winner.Moved out well holding his topline for one so young. Muscular neck leading into well laid shoulder. Would have liked more length of body. Long sweep from hip to hock and has time to develop more bend of stifle.
  3. Day & O’Brien’s  Celtic Moon Celtic Warrior.

Junior Dog (2) 1.

  1. Fairclough’s Beardswood Ripley For Calbraidh.  Tall well made youngster strong neck leading into sloping shoulder placement and prominent forechest. Long sweep from hip to hock.  Would like a little more length of loin and more width at stifle. 

Yearling Dog 1.

  1. Taylor’s Kilbourne Usher to Ormanstar. Shapely young hound.  Masculine head, strong neck, running into well laid shoulders.  Good depth and spring of rib. Adequate bend of stifle.  Moved a little close behind.

 Post Graduate Dog 2

  1. Helps Beardswood Quinlan.  Nice head.  Good forechest and well laid shoulder. Plenty of substance throughout. Good length from hip to hock although hocks could do to be a little lower. Moved well in profile, but a little close behind.    
  2. Finnet and Harrington’s Hyndsight Tempest.  Close up to one.  Lovely head and expression. Excellent length of neck and well made front assembly and depth of body. Tight feet.  Needs to improve on the move.

Limit Dog.

  1. Morton and Morgan’s Cotherstone  Shot and Steel. Nicely proportioned dog with excellent balance giving him a pleasing overall outline.  Beautiful head with a dark eye. Strong slightly arched neck with correct forechest. Correct spring of rib and depth of body.  He kept his topline on the move and covered the ground with easy motion. Good bend of stifle and strong second thigh. Thick dark coat, well turned out. C.C.  BOB.
  2. Wilkinson’s Sireadh Chase.  Close up to my winner.  Very masculine throughout, but also very elegant.  Excellent movement, he covered the ground effortlessly. Looked as if he could do the job the deerhound was bred for.  Typical head with very soft expression.  Good reach of neck.  Well balanced fore and aft.  Good depth and width of body. One of the best movers on the day. R.C.C
  3.  Peach’s Taylor Made for Kilbourne.   

Open Dog 3.

  1. Girling’s Ch. Pyefleet Rollo. Presented in hard condition .Nicely proportioned, dark coated dog, with excellent balance, outline and depth.  Beautiful head, strong neck, plenty of forechest, well laid shoulders balanced by sound rear assembly.  Body has plenty of  length, well ribbed.   Good fall away, width at second thigh and sweep from hip to hock, all making for a good sound specimen who is fit for function.
  2. Adams Ch.Cscarf O’cockaigne (imp) Very close up to 1.  Very masculine throughout.  Excellent movement.  Strode out with drive from the rear. Typical male head.  Strong neck, well laid shoulder, good width in front.   Deep chested.  Powerful hind quarters. He also looked fit for function.  A very good specimen.
  3. Spence & Heathcote’s  Ch. Hyndsight Riddick.

Puppy Bitch  1.

  1. Kodritsch  Greymoor Athena. Standing alone.  Nevertheless, well deserved her first place.  Very sound elegant youngster.  Pretty head with a kind eye.   Correct ribbing good tuck up and fall away.  Correct length of back.  Well set shoulders.  Long sweep from hip to hock, showing strong hidquarters.  Tight feet well knuckled.  Her long striding movement was excellent. Best Puppy

Junior Bitch (3) 1.

  1. Friend & Redmond’s Shagiead Lady Sea With Greybrows. Dark harsh coat, very well presented.  Elegant head sitting correctly on long elegant neck.  Deep rib cage, well sprung. Good sweep from hip to hock.  Would have liked a little more width at stifle. Moved soundly.

Yearling Bitch. 3.

  1. Ellse’s  Kilbourne Unity.  Very feminine youngster.  Beautiful head and expression. Correct length of back with rise over loin.  Lovely length from hip to hock.  Well laid shoulder, Good body.  Classic outline. One to watch.
  2. Davis Kilbourne Nimble at Marivon.  Another quality bitch with plenty of substance throughout.  Very good rear assembly, sloping shoulder, good forechest, deep body, all making up to balance on the move.
  3. Friend & Redmond’s Shagied Lady Sea With Greybrows.

Post Graduate Bitch 9.

  1. Lewis’s Greyhawks Romanie Rakli To Luckhurst.  A very nice hound built for work.  Excellent length of body, balanced by depth.  Strong neck, plenty of heart room. Strong flat boned legs.  Tight feet.  Excellent bend of stifle and width of second thigh. Really deserved her R.C.C.
  2. McGill’s Cotherstone Take Silk.  Another very good specimen I have often admired from ringside and I wasn’t disappointed when I went over her.  More compact than one.  Lots of curves and substance throughout. Correct topline and fall away. Deep ribbing very well sprung. Correct front assembly balanced by strong hindquarters. Good on the move.
  3. Lady S. Guise’s Saintvalery Inspiration

Limit Bitch 5

  1. Morton & Morgan’s Cotherstone Duchenne.  Majestic outline.  Very well balanced Great body, deep well sprung ribs, sloping shoulder, excellent width at hips.  Good topline and fall away.  Was pleased to see a good width of second thigh and low hocks. She moved with purpose and drive.
  2. Barter& Christian Hoddingrey Strahanna Of Ehlaradawn.  Another hound who could hold her own on the hills.  She is very well built, similar to 1. She has a little more length of body.  Feminine  head. Elegant neck, but plenty of strength. Flat well boned legs and tight feet. Moved very well.
  3. Wilkinsons’s Sireadh Charm.

       Open Bitch 7

  1. Adams Ch Ardneish Pantalaimon Always a favourite of mine she didn’t disappoint on the day. She is a good honest bitch.  Another one built for work.  No exaggerations. Strongly constructed throughout.  Everything in the right place good shoulder placement also depth and spring of rib.  Strong hindquarters with plenty of second thigh and correctly let down hocks.  Her movement is strong and true. A pleasure to watch.  I was delighted to give her the bitch C.C.  
  2. Taylor’s Kilbourne Baccarat.To Ormanstar.  A lighter made  bitch than 1. Lovely shapely hound. Very feminine head set on elegant neck. Balanced body with good rib cage and length of back,  good tuck up and fall away.  Strong flat boned legs, tight feet.  Moved very well.
  3. Spence’s Hyndsight Ripley Into Shagied.
