Crufts Championship Show 2012 Critique

SpPD (6) 1 Owen & Brodie's Wolfscastle Orson. Lovely puppy of almost 12 months. Has a nice head and good ear, a strong neck, good straight forelegs and correct feet. He has a good depth of chest and a decent rise in topline for his age and good quarters. He moved very well with a nice easy stride. Best Puppy in Breed. 2. Helps Beardswood Quinlan. Big raw pup with a pleasing head and good strong neck. Was well balanced in front and rear construction and has lovely low hocks. Needs deepen in chest and tends to flatten in topline at the moment. Not as steady in movement as the winner. 3. Peach's Greyflax Taylor Made For Kilbourne. A nice quality puppy who is well grown and of good size and substance. Has very good quarters and low hocks. Could have a better return of upper arm. Also would like to see some slope to pasterns and tighter feet. Well presented in good coat.

SpJD
(1) Hawkins' Kwaricott Corelli. Presents a good outline and has a very nice head and expression, good neck and shoulders, well boned legs and good feet. Has a decent spring of rib and adequate depth of chest. Very good rear with a good width of thigh and second thigh and his movement was sound and free.

YD
(8) 1 Finnett & Harrington's Hyndsight Tempest. Immature in body and temperament but when he stood relaxed, has a lovely outline. Liked his head qualities and his good topline and rear. Went well going round but needs to steady in front movement and his feet could be better knuckled up. 2. Morell's Cream Island's Sir Gibson (ATC SWE). Good for size and substance and is better constructed in the rear than forehand but moved fairly well in spite of this. Would like a better layback of shoulder and slope to pasterns. Preferred him in head to the third placed dog. 3 Stabb & Taylor's Laird of Summerisle. Hasn't got the head qualities of those above him but is OK in neck, balanced in construction and moved steadily going round. Somewhat erratic coming towards and close behind today. Carries a very good coat.

PGD
(8.1) 1 Wragg's Neroche Irving. Very typical of the breed and has a lovely head with dark eyes and soft expression. Good ears, good neck and well balanced front and rear angulation. Held his topline well on the move and covered the ground easily in profile. A bit close behind as were many today. Shown in good coat and condition. 2 Williams' Addicted to Love. Upstanding dog whose expression was marred by rather a light eye. Has a good strong neck, Ok in topline and rear angles, a good length of rib and strong loin. Has very good feet and a good coat. Moved OK. 3. Stuart & Holt's Regalflight Tomahawk at Ollandsheart. Shapely dog with a good head and calm expression. Fair shoulder but good ribbing, topline and quarters. Moved quite well in profile.

LD
(13) 1 Phillips' All Guns Blazing For Ladygrove. Liked this dog for his size, outline and very good construction. Has a pleasing head with neat ears and good dark eyes, a strong neck and excellent front and feet. He was shown in good coat and first class muscular condition, which no doubt contributed to his sound, free movement. Res. CC. 2 Peach's Kilbourne Hector To Oelmuhle. Another very handsome dog with a good outline. Balanced front and rear construction, well boned with well ribbed body , strong loin and well muscled rear. Moved soundly but preferred the drive of the winner. 3 Shannon's Erewhon Dambuster ShCM. A pleasing dog who moved soundly. Has a good head and neck but flattens a bit in topline. Has a good depth of chest and decent front and rear angles. Moved freely reaching out well in front.

OD
(11.2) 1 Adams' Cscarf O'Cockaigne. Lovely example of the breed whose general appearance and characteristics fit the description of the breed very well. Has a lovely head and gentle expression, very good neck and topline, good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm and nice straight forelegs. Very good ribbing and strong loin and a typical top and underline. Excellent rough ragged coat and in superb condition. Moved truly and covered the ground easily reaching well in front and driving from the rear. CC & BOB. 2 Van-Zanten Boomgaard's Int/NL/D/DK/Fr/B Ch Calhoun O'Cockaigne ECC'09 (ATC NLD). I see from my catalogue is litter brother to the winner. He is of the same high quality and much the same remarks apply to both. This one just a tad heavy over the loin and I preferred the head of the winner and his coat quality today. 3. Girling's Pyefleet Rollo. A medium sized strong, well constructed hound who moved accordingly. Found his head a little plain but he has nice eyes and good ears, a good neck and shoulder and correct topline which he held on the move. Has a good deep chest, is well ribbed back and has a well muscled rear. Moved well in profile, just a shade close behind.

GCDSD
(3) 1 Pink's Romanie Rye at Greyhawks. Has a good outline and a good head with nice dark eyes and good expression. Liked his good deep body' nice straight front and well angulated rear. Moved well keeping his topline. 2 Seymour-Jackson's Ghiltan Hero. Big strong dog with good head qualities. Good deep body and balanced construction. moved fairly well but not as free or as true as 1. 3 Addicted To Love.

VB
(6.2) 1 Cartmells' Ch Drawing Down The Moon To Cusidh. Ultra feminine but strong and beautifully put together. Loved her head, outline and profile movement, which was both true and graceful and she covered the ground easily with a light and efficient action. I didn't expect to find my CC winner in this class but when it came to the challenge, she excelled herself in movement and showmanship. CC. 2 Faircloth's Beardswood Niamh At Calbraidh. A taller 7 year old who appeared shorter in neck and not as well constructed in forehand as winner but she was presented in very good muscular condition and was moving soundly. A bit short of coat. 3. Adams' Hyfron Ula from Zandahar ShCM. A 9 year old in very good condition for her age. Has a lovely feminine head, good outline and was a nice easy mover.

SpPB
(5) 1 Bailey's Greyflax Just Peachy. A very promising puppy with a beautiful head and good outline. Lovely neck and shoulders, good topline, feet and pasterns. Moved really well going round. Just needs to develop in body and steady in movement which should come with maturity. 2 Bond's Regalflight Civet. Dark bitch with a pleasing head, good ribbing, strong loin and good rear angulation. Moved quite well but not the reach of one. 3 Taylor's Kilbourne Morgan Le Fay. Another promising puppy with a lovely head and soft expression. Good general proportions and outline. Has an excellent side gait but a bit erratic coming and going today.

SpJB
(1) 1 Peach's Kilbourne Teliah. Lovely youngster. Has a good feminine head with nice small ears, a good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. Liked her depth of chest and well sprung ribs, good rear and low hocks. In super coat and muscular condition and a sound and steady mover.

YB
(15.1) 1 Peach's Kilbourne Wendela. Another quality hound from this kennel. Typical in head with neat ears and a good neck, excellent bone and substance for her size and good feet and pasterns. Well ribbed and with a strong loin. A sound and easy mover. 2 Smart's Kessoch Marsco Of Greystiel. Smaller bitch but lovely type. Has beautiful head and soft expression, a nice deep body and good top and underlines. In good coat and condition and moved really well. 3 Lewis' Grehawks Romanie Rawnie To Luckhurst. Not as mature as the two placed above her but has a very nice head, good topline and rear. Moved well in profile holding her outline but needs time to fill in front and develop in body.

PGB
(15.3) A disappointing class. 1 Kessoch Marsco Of Greystiel. 2 Wiggan's Lodhainn Ablaize. Pleasing in head and better in body condition and substance than some. Ok in ribbing and rear angles. Moved quite well in profile but lacked rear drive. 3 Rose's Jacobite Rosanne To Gentiehun. Tall dark bitch rather broad in skull with a low set ear which spoiled her expression. OK in shoulder and topline but could have greater length from hip to hock. However, she moved quite well to earn her place.

LB
(12.3) 1 Morgan's Ladygrove Calamity Jane At Amiro. I didn't care for her head but found her a very well constructed bitch. She has a good front, pasterns and feet with a good layback of shoulder, nice deep chest, is well ribbed back and has a good topline and strong rear. She moved well and carried a good coat. 2 Taylor's Kilbourne Baccarat To Ormanstar. Could change places with the winner another day as I liked her type and quality very much and she has the better head of the two. She has a lovely outline, fair front, good topline, correct rib and strong loin. Not quite as free on the move as I would have liked. 3 Rhodes & Morton's Gentom Rorke's Driftress. A nicely constructed bitch with a sweet head and expression and nicely folded ear. Has good straight forelegs, pleasing depth of chest and strong rear. Shown in good rough coat and moving with easy stride.

OB(10.3) A lovely class to judge. 1. Finnett & Heathcote's Ch Hyndsight Into The Mystic. Beautiful bitch for type with a good head, eye and expression. Has a decent shoulder, good ribbing, well arched loin and good rear angulation with low hocks. Has a typical harsh coat. A very sound mover out and back and holds her outline in profile. In the challenge for the CC just preferred the low forward reach of the veteran but little to separate them. Res CC. 2 Bailey's Greyflax Crystal. A very beautiful bitch of this breed. Has an excellent head, a good arch to her neck and good top and underlines. Would prefer slightly more rear angulation to allow greater length from hip to hock but her hocks were strong and low to the ground. Has a very impressive side gait with a good length of stride. Not as well furnished with coat as the winner. 3 Van-Zanten Boomgard & Hansen's Int/NL/D/DK/Fr/B Ch Chetah O'Cockaigne (ATC NLD). Another very well constructed, shapely bitch of good size and substance. Not as feminine in head as the two above her but has very nice neat ears, a good length of neck, well laid shoulders and good deep body, a nice arch to her loin and excellent feet. Although very sound on the move and keeping her outline, I felt she could have made more of herself when moving in profile.

GCDSB
(5) 1 Williams' Kilbourne Winona. A very pleasing young bitch with a good head and neat ears, nice topline and good body for her age. Carries a good harsh coat and moved well in this class. 2 Beardswood Niamh At Calbraidh. 3 Seymour-Jackson's Cassacre Aelfrida Of Ghiltan. Nice for type with a good head, neck and topline. Needs to firm up in movement and mature further in body. Carries a good coat and moved OK.
